Declare Your Independence from Mediocrity

July 2, 2018

“May He equip you with all you need for doing His will. May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to Him.”
Hebrews 13:21

Do you have a dream from God that you’ve been told is impossible?

Or maybe you’ve felt a gentle tugging on your heart that you’ve repeatedly dismissed for one reason or another.

Don’t let the clutter of the common keep you from greatness!

God has seeded greatness in you! Lean into Him for the wisdom, skills, and character that will position you for promotion.

If you’re not getting power from God every day to move you forward, you are not fulfilling your potential to impact the world on His behalf.

You are here to shape the world.

Become the difference maker, industry disruptor, innovative trendsetter, and market leader that sets new standards for what’s possible.

Get the equipping and encouragement you need to step into the fullness of all you’re called to be.

Breaking free from mediocrity will require you to get in step with the leadership of the Holy Spirit—and getting in step with the leading of the Holy Spirit will require you to chase after impossible dreams…

If we don’t rely on God’s abilities and wisdom every minute of every day to accomplish what He has put in our hearts to do, then we will always play small.

Faith is the key to taking the lead.

Faith in what God can do through you is how you turn this world upside right.

God will infuse your heart with His desires when you turn to Him—He will stir within you the ideas and insights you need to shape the world around you.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Psalm 37:4

If you are a child of God, you are led by His Spirit (see Romans 8:14), but it’s wholly up to you to tune into that Spirit.

This is what separates those who defy mediocrity from those who sleepwalk through life. You can remain among the masses held captive by the status quo, or you can follow the lead of God’s Spirit into the fullness of your potential.

You can’t be led by someone you rarely hear from.

Your level of faith is contingent upon your level of prayer.

In his book, Just Courage, Gary Haugen speaks of the calling and work of Mother Teresa:

“Mother Teresa said that she couldn’t imagine doing her work for more than thirty minutes without prayer. Do you and I have work that we can’t imagine doing for thirty minutes without prayer?”

If you don’t rely on instruction and strength from heaven for what you are doing throughout the day, then who are you really working for?

How can we overcome the problems our world faces without the power of God?

If what you are seeking to accomplish does not require you to pray hourly, could what you are striving to achieve be of any real significance?

After being baptized by John, the first message Jesus preached was on what the Kingdom of God is all about. In Luke 4:18-19 we read:

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

Today poverty still cripples the vast majority of the nations of our world. There are still people that go to bed hungry every night and don’t have access to clean water. Because of this, their children are often sick and many don’t live past the age of five.

Selfishness and oppressive circumstances still break apart families, lives, and hearts every day. Slavery and sex trafficking are more prevalent than ever in the history of the world—and much of it involves children.

Sickness, disease, and disabilities are still not a thing of the past. Murder and religious, racial, political, and economic oppression still ravage neighborhoods, nations, and continents.

Christ came to do much that still has not been done.

We must learn to effectively pray that…

  • we would be one with each other even as we become one with Jesus,
  • we would know His glory and power and see it manifested upon the earth,
  • we would exude His love so that everything we set our hands to will prosper.

As members of God’s family, we not only have the right but also the duty to go to our Father and ask for His plans, strategies, and resources to fulfill our mission, assignments, and purposes upon the earth.

Prayer is the conduit that not only reveals the will of God for our individual lives, but also helps make us the people we need to be to do the impossible.

It’s time to plug into that power like never before.

It’s not too late for you to declare your independence, break free from mediocrity, and step up into all God has for you to do!

Now is the time to lead for a change!
