The Best Way to Glorify God is to…

November 21, 2016

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
2 Corinthians 9:11

Growing up, my family was the recipient of such generosity—especially around the holidays—that I understood early what it meant to be deeply thankful.

As many of you know, I was born into poverty. It was due to the generosity of others that we were able to enjoy a holiday meal that most people take for granted.

It is in remembering that generosity that inspires me to do what I can to help other families experience the joy of God’s goodness and faithfulness.

“As God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.”
2 Corinthians 4:15

This past weekend, in partnership with Take It By Force Ministries, we were able to provide Thanksgiving dinner provisions to one thousand people!

From personal experience, I know God will be glorified, as great thanksgiving will abound in the homes of those families.

I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to you, the partners of Cindy Trimm Ministries International.

It’s because of your faithful giving that humanitarian projects such as this are possible.

We have numerous outreach projects planned for next year, including our Kenya Medical Missions Trip. If you haven’t already, prayerfully consider partnering with us throughout next year as well as making CTMI part of your year-end giving.

Wherever this finds you in the world, take this opportunity to glorify God, not only by giving thanks, but also by giving.

You don’t need a special holiday to pause and remember all that God has done in your life, but you can glorify Him in every moment by living generously.

Take time today to donate to your local food bank, or give whatever you can to whomever you see in need!

There is no better way to thank God for His goodness than to take the lead in giving—and living—generously!

Celebrating God’s generosity through the generosity of His people is what the Thanksgiving Holiday is all about.

But whatever country you’re in, I encourage you to make time this week to glorify God with demonstrations of extravagant generosity.

Now more than ever, God is looking for those who will live with open hearts and open hands.

As divisive as the current cultural climate seems, not only in post-election America, but all around the world, we must remember that God has called us to walk in one Spirit, one mind, and one hope.

These may seem like difficult times to embrace those who think differently or embrace different values, but even as different as the Plymouth colonists were to the Wampanoag Indians, they sat down together in gratitude to share a harvest feast in 1621.

“Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God.”
Romans 15:6 NLT

We need each other. As different as we all are (to the praise and glory of God!), we need the unique perspectives, voices, viewpoints, backgrounds, cultures, heritage, experiences, and abilities that every individual possesses.

As Paul asked the Corinthians, “If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?” (1 Cor. 12:17 NLT).

But, as Paul wrote to the Ephesians, when “the whole body [is] joined and knit together by what every joint supplies,” and when “every part does its share” (Eph. 4:16), then the body is able to grow and mature into “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13).

“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope.”
Philippians 4:4

Unity and diversity go hand in hand and comprise a fundamental principle of the Kingdom.

Honoring diversity is so important to the work we do at CTMI, that it is one of our ten core values:

We are committed to the creation of supportive and safe environments that welcome a diversity of ideas, beliefs, and cultures.

When you value diversity, you are called to a higher standard when it comes to creating collaborative environments and a culture of team working—and making certain that every voice is heard and affirmed.

Although we are all very different, we come together with a common goal and purpose…to glorify God through demonstrating His love.

With this in mind, we understand the power of “team work” and “corporate responsibility” in fulfilling the unique vision and mandate we’ve been given.

Each of us, as individual members of our communities and citizens of our respective nations, must keep in mind that although we are as varied as the colors reflected in a prism, there is but one Light, one Love, one Lord.

This Thanksgiving, let’s remember to glorify God in our uniqueness by walking in the generosity of His grace and the infinite capacity of His love.

As you gather around the table with extended family who you may hardly know, or open your homes to people you may have only recently met, remember that as diverse as the family of God is, we have but one purpose:

Love.

“If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care—then do me a favor…love each other…Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead…Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.”
