There are clear strategies found in Scripture for moving away from a realm of limitation into a realm of limitless possibilities.
Wherever you find yourself today, you are inhabiting a realm.
We live in realms.
Today, I challenge you to decide whether the realm you are currently living in is where God assigned you…or whether you’re not participating in the maturation process.
If you’re feeling stuck, something is going wrong with your spiritual development.
All sorts of factors can arrest your development—from your lack of exposure to the Word of God and good biblical teaching, to your mindset, relationships, and the culture around you.
So what can you do today to press toward that higher calling?
Let’s look at what we can learn from how God led Abraham.
God told Abraham He was going to change his status. He told him He was going to make him great, He was going to make his name great, and He was going to make his seed great.
When God wanted to move Abraham out of one realm and into another that He had assigned to him, He told him to leave everything behind.
But when Abraham left home, he chose to bring along his nephew Lot.
Now Lot benefited from the realm Abraham was living in and the grace upon his life, but he didn’t contribute to it.
In fact, if you look into the meaning of the word Lot, you’ll discover it means “to cover”—so Lot’s presence in effect put a lid on what Abraham could achieve.
Lot’s influence on Abraham was to restrict how much he could grow.
So while God blessed Abraham and increased him, there came a time when Abraham needed to separate from Lot. (See Genesis 13.) He needed to move away in order to move up.
Are there people you need to move away from in order to move up into the “more and more” God has for you? (See Psalm 115:14.)
Are the people around you living under an open heaven or living with a lid on their life?
Because if those people are living with limits and restrictions, they’re placing those same limits and restrictions on you.
This could be a narrow mindset or low expectations or even selfish motives.
There are some people that don’t expect anything from you.
They don’t expect you to grow and so will never speak to your potential.
They may want you to stay where you are so they can justify staying where they are.
Or perhaps they don’t want you to know how smart and talented you are so they can take advantage of your gifts.
I want you to consider for a moment that if you are making something happen for someone else, then why can’t you make it happen for yourself?
This is a lid on your extraordinary potential.
There are people that limit you—and you can feel it.
You have grown and prospered, and they want to treat you as if you haven’t.
Sometimes it’s the culture you’re living in. Think of Jesus returning to His hometown where “He could do no mighty work…because of their unbelief” (Mark 6:5-6).

This is why God told Abraham that He wouldn’t take him further until he eliminated the lids.
He wanted to give him an open heaven and do mighty works in his life, but Abraham needed to extricate himself from the places and people that were limiting and restricting him.
Many of us have grown and God is wanting to promote us to another realm of success and abundance—of increased capacity, influence, and position.
But to step into a new station we must first re-station ourselves.
This week, I want you to think about the people or places that may be restricting God from repositioning you.
Be willing to walk away from those limiters and take the lid off your potential!
Give yourself the gift of goodbye and say “hello” to what you never thought was possible before!
