I have found that the biggest challenge people face when writing a clear and compelling vision is that they don’t really know what they want.

This is not new to those of us living in the modern age of infinite possibilities. Jesus found those He ministered to suffering from the same lack of clarity:

“What do you want me to do for you?”
Mark 10:51

In the 19th century, Mark Twain observed: “I can help anyone get anything they want out of life. The only problem is that I can’t find anyone who knows what they want.”

I challenge you at the start of this New Year to get clear on what you truly want. Not what others want or expect from you; not what your employer or spouse or parent or church or circle of friends want or expect from you—but what you authentically want for yourself.

What is the deeply personal vision you have for your uniquely authentic life?

Every day the world tries to tell you who you should become. If you aren’t careful, the world’s opinions can keep you from making your life your own.

As you begin 2017, remember:

No one can live your life for you—you must take ownership of your own life, future, and destiny.

Your vision and goals should be the most authentic, empowered expression of the aspirations that make you distinctly you.

Adopting someone else’s vision for your life or attempting to squeeze yourself into someone else’s mold only diminishes your potential and distorts your unique gift to the world.

Research shows that individuals who are surrounded by people with personalities more dominant than their own tend to suppress their authentic self.

“What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you?”

Because you know yourself better than anyone else, only you can determine the dreams, choices, and lifestyle that are right for you.

Therefore, as the Apostle Paul exhorts:

“Live creatively…Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life” (Gal. 6:1,4-5 MSG).

As you start the year fresh, ask yourself two things:

  • How am I allowing others to mold my life to their vision rather than my own?
  • How will I make the most of the precious gift God has given methe power to choose blessing and life? (See Deut. 30:19.)

Who Will You Become In The Year Ahead?

“So follow the steps of the good, and stay on the paths of the righteous. For only the godly will live in the land, and those with integrity will remain in it.
Proverbs 2:20-21

I pray you are still enjoying the afterglow of a holiday rich in Kingdom blessings!

I urge you, as Paul told Timothy, to continue stirring up the beautiful gifts God has placed within you (see 2 Tim 1:6) and savoring the abundance Christ came to provide (see John 10:10).

In this last week of 2016, take time to remember God’s faithfulness over the course of the year.

Most of us have our eyes fixed on the year ahead—and that’s a good thing!

I’ve been talking a great deal about what I believe will be historic opportunities for the people of God in the year ahead.

But as we rev our engines at the starting lines of 2017, let’s pause to take stock of how far we’ve come!

  • What has God shown you over the course of the year?
  • What setbacks or hurdles have you overcome?

Give yourself—and God—some credit for where you are now!

Whether you’ve achieved some notable accomplishments, or you’re still climbing what feels like a steep hill…

…if you’re here, you’re still in the game either scoring or about to!

And whether or not you feel like you’re the one making touchdowns…

...if you’re walking in the love of God, you’re part of a winning team.

You are in the world to make a world of difference wherever you are standing.

All you have to do is shine. All you have to do is be the light you are already wired to be—either in your place of work, in your family, or on the street where you’re walking, or driving, or doing business.

Wherever you are in the world, you are there to light it!

It’s like that old saying: “Wherever you go, there you are!”—wherever in the world you find yourself is exactly where in the world you are called to be the light.

It’s not complicated.

As human beings, we tend to overcomplicate things. But what we are called to do in this world is quite simple: Walk. In. Love.

Love fulfills all the requirements of religion and the law (see Romans 13:10). In fact, there is nothing that matters more. (See 1 Cor. 13:3.)

Our very faith is founded on and works by love. (See Galatians 5:6.)

“The important thing is faith—the kind of faith that works through love.”
Galatians 5:6 ERV

So as we put another year behind us, and begin dreaming about the next, I invite you to examine your love walk.

What kind of faith are you building your life, goals, dreams, and legacy on?

In fact, let’s talk about the integrity of your faith.

Integrity is defined as moral uprightness, virtue, honor, righteousness, and good character.

“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”
Proverbs 11:3 NIV

It is also defined as the state of being whole and undivided—not double-minded or “duplicitous.”

This is important, because we are told in James that those who are double-minded will receive nothing from the Lord. (See James 1:6-8.)

I don’t know about you, but I’m hoping to receive a great deal from the Lord!

“For in him we live and move and have our being.”
Acts 17:28

We can’t expect to have more until we are willing to become more.

Becoming more in the Kingdom of God begins with character. “Of all the tasks which are set before man in life,” wrote 19th century historian, William Lecky, “the education and management of his character is the most important.”

“And, in order that it should be successfully pursued,” Lecky added:

“It is necessary that he should make a calm and careful survey of his own tendencies, unblinded either by the self-deception which conceals errors and magnifies excellences, or by the indiscriminate pessimism which refuses to recognize his powers for good.”

In other words, take stock of who you are becoming: Be willing to speak the truth to yourself in love (see Ephesians 4:15), remembering God is faithful to complete every good work He begins!

“He who has begun a good work in you will complete it.”
Philippians 1:6

God will complete the good work He has begun in you by building your capacity to walk in greater degrees of honor, righteousness, and love—by strengthening the integrity of your character.

Integrity is the last of our ten core values that we’ve been discussing throughout this ten-week series, and it’s the perfect value to consider as we pause to reflect on the year behind us and the year ahead:

Integrity:
We believe that the favor of God is directly connected to our obedience, character, honesty, and transparency. We strive to maintain Christian ethics that reflect the culture of the Kingdom of God and the personality of our Creator as described in the Fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23

How are you reflecting the character of God?

As you prepare to head into this next year, think about who you are becoming. What kind of things will people say about who you are—about the kind of spirit they see reflected in you?

How do you want to be known this time next year?

Think about that legacy.

Rather than a to-do list of accomplishments or experiences, think about who you want to become in the year ahead…think about how you want to be known.

This is your personal brand. That is what will define the legacy you leave, the lives you influence, and the impact you’ll have.

How will God’s love be made known through you…be perfected in you?

“Eagerly pursue and see to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest].”
1 Corinthians 14:1 AMP

Living a life ruled by the love of God is what integrity is all about. It is what opens you up to the favor and blessings and power of God and positions you to transform the atmosphere, environment, and culture around you.

It is how you continually dwell in God’s powerful presence where there is infinite freedom, peace, wisdom, provision, healing, and fullness of joy.

“If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and His love is perfected in us.”
1 John 4:12

 

Give the Gift of Love this Christmas

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14

As we count down the days until we celebrate the birth of our Lord, let’s remember why He came to dwell among us.

We are often prompted in Christian circles to remember the “reason for the season”—and that reason, of course, being the birth of Jesus.

But how often do we to stop to remember why Jesus was born?

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.
John 3:16

Yes, He came to save us from our sins (see 1 John 2:2)—that we would “not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16)—and that we would inherit all the promises of God (see Romans 8:17).

But more, so that we could become more like Him (see Ephesians 5:1)—be changed into His image (see 2 Corinthians 3:18), and take on His very nature (2 Peter 1:4).

In other words, so we could “walk in love, as Christ also has loved us” (Ephesians 5:2).

As we worship the Lord for all He has done for us and celebrate all He came to give, let’s remember that there is no higher form of praise than imitation.

The most sincere praise we can offer our savior is by imitating His love…walking in His…talking in His love…

…and giving the gift of His unconditional love to everyone we encounter.

This Christmas, give the gift of God’s unconditional love—it is the highest form of worship.

As Billy Graham taught, “The highest form of worship is the worship of unselfish Christian service.”

Let’s not forget that worship is about more than music and singing—it’s about more than dancing or clapping or waving flags (although those are all beautiful forms of worship).

True worship is doing whatever we do “as unto the Lord.”

“Whatever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord.”
Colossians 3:23

Worship is about serving with our whole hearts. It’s about doing whatever we do unselfishly.

During this especially “material” time of year, when it seems as if the busyness of decorating and shopping and “making merry” distract us from simply being present to those most in need around us…

When presents take precedence over being present…

We should pause and challenge ourselves to love sacrificially and serve unselfishly; to lay down our lives as Jesus did.

How are you imitating Christ this season?

How are you loving like Jesus loved?

Who are you serving as we prepare to celebrate the greatest servant of all?

This is our worship.

Worship and service go hand in hand. This concept is why we do what we do; it is foundational to everything we do as a ministry.

In fact, it is so integral to who we are at Cindy Trimm Ministries International, it is another one of our ten core values:

Worship & Service:
“Our service to God is our greatest form of worship and is at the center of everything we do as believers.”

I’m going to keep it short and sweet…after all, this is the week of Christmas and I know you’re busy!

Go out and love on someone you don’t even know.

Be a shining neon Christmas light that spreads the love of God!

I challenge you this week to love the unloveable—whether the inconvenient homeless or those inconvenient relatives who show up in your home—“put on love” (Colossians 3:14)!

For this is why Christ was born. This is why we celebrate Christmas.

Because God so loved the world…

Learn to Live Beyond Yourself

“We have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will.”
Ephesians 1:11 NASB

One of the hallmarks of the great men and women of God we read about throughout the Bible—and throughout history—is that they think multi-generationally.

All great history makers—from activists to authors to artists to inventors—were all able to think beyond themselves.

One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.
Psalm 145:4

Our God-given nature is to think from the perspective of eternity.

We, who “have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:16)—who “are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory” (2 Cor. 3:18)—are able to think past our present circumstances with a vision for how we will impact the future for God’s glory.

We are the history makers. We are those whom God has equipped with His nature, purpose, and creative potential to transform the world.

“He has put eternity in their hearts.”
Ecclesiastes 3:11

We have inherited this “hope of glory” (Col. 1:27)—this hope of glorifying God with our lives.

Why? Because it is through this inheritance—the Spirit of Christ working in us—that we are empowered to leave a legacy.

You have heard me talk before about the importance of being legacy-minded.

This is something I have felt increasingly compelled to teach on—and is what underscored the many messages God imparted throughout the End Your Year Strong event.

When we talk about purpose and vision, we’re talking about how you want to be remembered.

Your unique offering—your personal brand—is the unique reflection of God’s grace and glory that He wants to manifest through you.

What is God’s promise to the world He desires to fulfill through you?

There is something special God has deposited in you—which He has bequeathed you—that only you can deposit or leave as a gift to this world.

The world needs that gift. Future generations need the value added proposition God has seeded in you. The future will not be the same without it.

Because investing in future generations is so important to what we do as a ministry, it is one of our ten core values.

We invest in the next generation. We create and pass on generational blessings spiritually, financially, and educationally.

We not only want to leave an inheritance, but we also want to leave a legacy.

We want to leave behind people whose lives have been transformed—who are empowered in ways they wouldn’t have been otherwise—who can take the baton we carried and run with it even farther and faster than we were able.

 While inheritance is defined by what you leave; legacy is defined by who you leave.

Investing in the next generation is more about the equipping you leave than the equipment. You can leave barrels of batons, but who are you leaving to carry them?

In other words, who are the people you are raising up to carry forward the work you’ve been given to do? Or how are you stirring up the purpose God is working out in their lives?

The Message translation sheds new light on our opening verse from Ephesians: rather than speaking of the inheritance we’ve obtained, it speaks of the overall purpose being worked out in our lives.

“It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for…part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.”
Ephesians 1:11-12 MSG

So let me ask you: How are you investing in the overall purpose that God is working out in everyone?

How are you living out each moment beyond the present; how are you living beyond yourself?

I challenge you this week, as we fast approach the day we celebrate Christ’s birth, to be legacy-minded.

Think about what you’re giving birth to in this world—and more importantly, on behalf of whom.

“Even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to another generation, your power to all those to come.”
Psalm 71:18 ESV

We must begin within the life of our souls if we are to change the world.

Our vision for global impact starts with imparting hope and healing to every person we touch. It is another one of our ten core values.

Global Vision & Local Impact

We believe that global change starts in small communities. We will impact world systems and global markets by empowering individuals within local communities. We reach the world one person at a time.

With that end in mind, we are looking forward to hosting ministry schools, empowerment events, and leadership forums in new localities around the world.

Where we have already conducted other types of outreaches, we will continue to equip and train individuals within those communities to discover purpose, maximize potential, and fulfill destiny.

We are expanding our capacity to do greater things for God by pressing into the deeper things He has made available to us.

What are the greater things you have planned in the year ahead?

I encourage you to be deliberate with your vision. Be bold. Think beyond what you understand is possible and dare to dream with the whole world in mind.

And then begin with the people you encounter every day, right where you are. Begin with every person you meet.

This is what the prophet Isaiah was speaking about when he described God’s Chosen Fast:

“If you stop making trouble for others,
    if you stop using cruel words and pointing your finger at others,
if you feed those who are hungry
    and take care of the needs of those who are troubled,
then your light will shine in the darkness,
    and you will be bright like sunshine at noon…
Your people will rebuild the old cities that are now in ruins;
    you will rebuild their foundations.
You will be known for repairing the broken places
    and for rebuilding the roads and houses.”
                                                                          Isaiah 58:9-10,12 NCV

Those are great exploits: “Rebuilding cities; repairing broken places.”

Another translation states that, Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities…you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes” (NLT).

Plan now to carry out great Kingdom exploits in the year ahead! In fact, plan now to attend KSM in July! That is exactly what we will be talking about for an entire week.

Together we can impact the world for Christ…

…until “the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord” (Revelation 11:15 KJV).

Are You Poised to Fulfill Your Purpose?

This week marks the beginning of Advent for many Christian denominations—and the beginning of the church year.

“Advent,” from the Latin adventus, simply means “arrival” or “coming.” It is a liturgical season comprised of the four weeks leading up to Christmas.

Advent is a time of consecration as Christians prepare to celebrate the birth and “first coming” of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Although it feels as though we are approaching the conclusion of the year, we are really celebrating a season of beginnings.

Advent is a time marked by purpose—a time to refocus and re-consecrate our lives to what is truly important; a time to think about why we are here, what we should be putting our energies into, and for whom.

As you prepare to celebrate the fullness of all things (see Eph. 1:10, 23), prayerfully consider whether you are in possession of all you need to fulfill God’s special purpose for you.

How diligently are you preparing and positioning yourself to be “fit for the Master’s use, and prepared for every good work” (2 Tim. 2:21)?

“Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
Philippians 2:12-13

We are living in history-defining times. 

At no other time in history has the world been so interconnected, or has information traveled across the planet at the speed of thought.

Within moments, we can know of an individual’s need in a remote area on the other side of the globe, and if we can’t meet that need within a matter of hours, we can intercede through prayer in a matter of seconds.

Solving problems and meeting needs is where purpose is found and fulfilled.

Fulfilling God’s purpose is why you and I are here—both collectively as the body of Christ, and individually as Christ’s disciples.

We get a sense of that purpose from the words of Jesus Himself when He announced:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord” (Luke 4:18-19).

We must embrace that purpose as our own—and make it central to all we do in this world.

Purpose is another of our ten core values that undergirds all of our initiatives as a ministry:

We understand that our purpose is directly connected to the problems that we have been called to solve.

As a ministry we believe:

Problems are divine opportunities to prosper.

And as ministers, we hold to this premise by stating:

We refuse to complain when confronted with problems. Instead, we create solutions and celebrate the promotion that will inevitably result.

Our view of purpose also frames how we define prosperity: “The provision necessary to overcome obstacles in order to fulfill purpose.” (For more on this topic, read The Prosperous Soul.)

To commit to walking in divine purpose requires faith in the One who called us according to that purpose.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28

The writer of Hebrews makes clear that without faith we can never fulfill our purpose—because without it, it is impossible to please God. (See Hebrews 11:6.)

But in faith, we can glorify God, declaring as David did that it is “God who fulfills His purpose for me” (Psalm 57:2).

So as we head into Advent, this beautiful season of beginnings, stir up your faith in the God who fulfills His purpose for you—remembering also that it is always “the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Prov. 19:21)!

“I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”
Job 42:2

Nothing could keep Christ from entering this earth and fulfilling His purpose—nor can anything keep you from the plans God has for your future. (See Jer. 29:11.)

All that is required of you is to have faith in the One who God sent. (See John 6:29.)

As we prepare our hearts over the next four weeks to commemorate that glorious reception, when Christ was born in a manger so He could be born in our hearts, consider whether you are poised to fulfill your purpose.

“The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.”
Proverbs 20:5

The Best Way to Glorify God is to…

Growing up, my family was the recipient of such generosity—especially around the holidays—that I understood early what it meant to be deeply thankful.

As many of you know, I was born into poverty. It was due to the generosity of others that we were able to enjoy a holiday meal that most people take for granted.

It is in remembering that generosity that inspires me to do what I can to help other families experience the joy of God’s goodness and faithfulness.

 “As God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.”
2 Corinthians 4:15

From personal experience, I know God will be glorified, as great thanksgiving will abound in the homes of those families.

There is no better way to thank God for His goodness than to take the lead in giving—and living—generously!

Celebrating God’s generosity through the generosity of His people is what the Thanksgiving Holiday is all about.

But whatever country you’re in, I encourage you to make time this week to glorify God with demonstrations of extravagant generosity.

Now more than ever, God is looking for those who will live with open hearts and open hands.

As divisive as the current cultural climate seems, not only in post-election America, but all around the world, we must remember that God has called us to walk in one Spirit, one mind, and one hope.

These may seem like difficult times to embrace those who think differently or embrace different values, but even as different as the Plymouth colonists were to the Wampanoag Indians, they sat down together in gratitude to share a harvest feast in 1621.

“Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God.”
Romans 15:6 NLT

We need each other. As different as we all are (to the praise and glory of God!), we need the unique perspectives, voices, viewpoints, backgrounds, cultures, heritage, experiences, and abilities that every individual possesses. 

As Paul asked the Corinthians, “If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?” (1 Cor. 12:17 NLT).

But, as Paul wrote to the Ephesians, when “the whole body [is] joined and knit together by what every joint supplies,” and when “every part does its share” (Eph. 4:16), then the body is able to grow and mature into “the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13).

“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope.”
Philippians 4:4

Unity and diversity go hand in hand and comprise a fundamental principle of the Kingdom. 

Honoring diversity is so important to the work we do at CTMI, that it is one of our ten core values:

We are committed to the creation of supportive and safe environments that welcome a diversity of ideas, beliefs, and cultures.

When you value diversity, you are called to a higher standard when it comes to creating collaborative environments and a culture of team working—and making certain that every voice is heard and affirmed. 

Although we are all very different, we come together with a common goal and purpose…to glorify God through demonstrating His love. 

With this in mind, we understand the power of “team work” and “corporate responsibility” in fulfilling the unique vision and mandate we’ve been given.

Each of us, as individual members of our communities and citizens of our respective nations, must keep in mind that although we are as varied as the colors reflected in a prism, there is but one Light, one Love, one Lord.

This Thanksgiving, let’s remember to glorify God in our uniqueness by walking in the generosity of His grace and the infinite capacity of His love.

As you gather around the table with extended family who you may hardly know, or open your homes to people you may have only recently met, remember that as diverse as the family of God is, we have but one purpose:

Love. 

“If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care—then do me a favor…love each other…Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead…Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.”

Last week we talked about the importance of prayer—especially as it relates to our divine directive to pray for the leaders God has placed in positions of authority.

We talked about our mandate to humble ourselves and pray for the nation in which we live—because when we do, God promises to heal it.

More importantly, when we pray, God increases our capacity to hear His voice and more effectively serve on His behalf.

Today, I want to talk to you about building your capacity to impact the world for Christ.

As we prepare for End Your Year Strong Dec 2-3, we are praying that every individual in attendance will experience a supernatural expansion of their personal capacity to be an extraordinary force for positive good.

Don’t miss this opportunity in this historic season to lock arms with fellow change makers.

Now, more than ever, we must come together and raise up a new standard of hope and healing.

We must lengthen our cords and strengthen our stakes as Isaiah spoke of; we must think bigger by stretching our minds, our imaginations, and our faith. (See Isaiah 52:2.)

“You have opened my ears and given me the capacity to hear [and obey Your word].”
Psalm 40:6 AMP

We must increase our capacity to receive from heaven the answers and solutions the world so desperately needs in this hour.

When Jesus declared, “You are the light of the world,” He made clear that His disciples were the carriers of all knowledge and truth.

As carriers of light in a dark world, we must fan into flame the embers each of us have been entrusted with.

“No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone.”
Matthew 5:15 NLT

To increase your light you must build your capacity to carry it—and in order to do that you must first and foremost seek God’s Kingdom and His righteousness (see Matt. 6:33).

There is a great deal to be said about delighting yourself in the Lord (see Psalm 37:4) and in the work He has given you to do.

The best way to live,” concluded the wise King Solomon, is “accepting what’s given and delighting in the work” (Ecclesiastes 5:18-19 MSG).

“Make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it.”
Ecclesiastes 15:19 MSG

With a grateful heart, receive what He gives and more will be given. When you are faithful with whatever little you have, you will be trusted with more.

We often forget these simple truths as we strive to achieve great things: That we must first seek after His Kingdom even as we are faithful with the smallest of things.

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.”
Luke 16:10

One of the primary ways God knows whether He can trust you with what He gives, is how tightly you hang on to it.

We are told throughout the Bible in various ways that we will reap whatever we sow (see Gal. 6:7 and 2 Cor. 9:6)—and as we measure it out so it will be measured back to us (see Matt. 7:2 and Mark 4:24).

If you want to increase your capacity to do, have, and be more, then you must be generous in all you do, have, and are.

“God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:7

Giving is another fundamental key to capacity building.

If you want to get ahead in life, help others get ahead. If you want to become a great leader, develop the leadership potential in everyone around you.

If you want to build a following, deepen your community presence, or expand your social platform, then invest in other people. The quickest way to push past your own limitations is to help others push past theirs.

 “The secret to growth is helping others grow.”

Below is our value statement as it relates to capacity building:

We believe in capacity building, because when ordinary people are empowered to maximize their potential, they produce extraordinary results. Giving increases our capacity to be and do more. In order to grow and expand we give extravagantly—we give of our time, talent, and treasure. Every human being has the ability to contribute to the health and prosperity of their community by engaging in a capacity-building process.

Giving and capacity building go hand in hand—because the more you give, the more you are able to receive. 

Paul told the church at Corinth that to receive the gifts of God’s Spirit one must have capacity for them. We must position ourselves spiritually in order to receive all that God has for us. 

“The unspiritual self…can’t receive the gifts of God’s Spirit. There’s no capacity for them.”
1 Corinthians 2:14 MSG

In Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he talked about those who had “lost their capacity for truth”—having their own conscience seared—because they became habituated to hypocrisy, greed, and deception. (See 1 Tim. 4:2 MSG.)

Don’t allow current cultural trends to limit your own capacity to push through the noise and clutter of the common, and prevail in what are difficult times.

In Christ, by faith—faith that works by love—you have the capacity to dispel the darkness. You have the capacity to carry God’s goodness and glory to a hurting world.

“For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.” 
2 Peter 2:15 

Don’t neglect the gift—the light—that is in you! When you feel stretched and pushed to the limit, lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes!

Learn to think bigger, reach higher, work harder, and ask for more—to believe for and give more than you thought possible before.

“You are the light of the world!”
Matthew 5:14

 

Before You Vote…

“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how…Pray especially for rulers and their governments.”
1 Timothy 2:1-2 MSG

Here in the United States, today is Election Day.

Wherever you reside in the world, certainly you have heard news of the two main candidates who have been vigorously campaigning over the past many months.

And now today, Americans everywhere will be closely watching the results as polls close across the country.

“Here are my directions: Pray much for others; plead for God’s mercy upon them; give thanks for all he is going to do for them. Pray in this way for kings and all others who are in authority over us, or are in places of high responsibility.”
1 Timothy 2:1-2 TLB

Regardless of the outcome you hope to see, you are called to pray—and then to keep on praying.

As Kingdom citizens, we will continue to hold up our leaders and ruling authorities in prayer, declaring in faith that God’s mercy and wisdom will prevail.

And given that mandate, we will come together in just a few short weeks to press into heaven—and regardless of what we see or hear in the news or media, we will call upon God on behalf of this nation.

Wherever we find ourselves, we must humble ourselves and believe God’s Word in every circumstance. We must continue to rely on His faithfulness, His goodness, and His wisdom.

Romans 13:1 states, “There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power” (TLB).

God has promised that if we would humble ourselves and pray, He would heal our land. (See 2 Chron. 7:14.)

“Pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.”
1 Timothy 2:8 NLT

That alone is what we are called to do.

To help you fulfill that directive, I want to provide you with some specific prayer points and strategies.

Interestingly, prayer is not only one of this ministry’s principle success strategies, it is also one of our ten foundational core values. (You can read about all ten of our values by clicking here.)

This is our value statement regarding prayer:

We are a people of prayer. We are strategic because we are obedient; therefore we accomplish more by doing less.

So how should we strategically pray at this very hour? How can we accomplish more as we seek the greatest good for our country?

How can we lock arms in the spirit and effectively intercede on behalf of our nation today…and in the weeks, months, and years ahead?

Below I offer you a powerful prayer that I have prayed in agreement with other leaders, and continue to pray daily over our nation:

Heavenly Father, I give thanks for our government and leaders. I pray for all men and women having authority over us in any way. (1 Timothy 2:2)

Pour out Your Spirit upon them and make Your Word known to them. (Proverbs 1:23)

Give them wisdom, might, strategic counsel, reverential fear of the Lord, and insight. (Isaiah 11:1-3)

Cause them to be men and women of integrity; obedient concerning the corporate destiny of the citizenry that they serve. Let them be true servant leaders, transformational  leaders—true visionary thought leaders—moral, ethical, and spiritual leaders. (Psalm 25:21)

Let the upright dwell in our government. (Proverbs 2:21)

Let wisdom enter their hearts, while they lead, while they instruct, while they speak, while they engineer policies, and while they slumber and sleep; and let knowledge be pleasant to them. Let wisdom guide them. Grant them prudence in conducting their daily affairs. (Proverbs 2:10)

Let discretion preserve them and understanding keep them, to deliver them from the way of evil and from evil men. (Proverbs 2:11-12)

Make their hearts and ears attentive to godly, wise strategic counsel. (Psalm 1:1)

May they continue doing what is right in your sight. (2 Chronicles 20:32)

Allow there to be a shaking in all areas (Hebrews 12:27) causing the wicked to be cut off and the unfaithful to be rooted out, while those who are upright and blameless before You remain. (Proverbs 2:21-22)

Bring to light what is hidden in darkness, and expose the secret counsel and diabolical aims of wayward hearts. (1 Corinthians 4:5)

Let this nation remember from where they have fallen; repenting and returning to doing their first works, (Revelation 2:5)

Setting their hearts and their souls to seek the Lord, (1 Chronicles 22:19)

Humbling themselves, praying, and turning from their wicked ways. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Then hear them, O Lord, and forgive their sins and heal our land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light. (Acts 26:18)

Soften the hearts that are hardened through the deceitfulness of riches and sin. (Hebrews 3:13)

Deliver them from their destructions. (Psalm 107:20)

Father, You have been longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

Raise up a standard in this nation. (Isaiah 49:22)

Cause the rains of Your Spirit to flood this land; reversing spiritual drought. (Zechariah 10:1)

And revive Your work in the midst of us. (Habakkuk 3:2)

Raise up intercessors to cover the work that you have called us to. (Isaiah 59:16)

Let there be a pulling down of strongholds over this land. (2 Corinthians 10:4)

And let the glory of the Lord be revealed! (Isaiah 40:5)
